Today we started pumpkin math. We took out all the guts in the morning. Ohhh it sure felt gooey and slimy. Then in the afternoon we worked to count all of the pumpkin seeds in our pumpkins. Some of the strategies we discovered where counting on, making groups, and/or using a 100's chart to help us keep track of the seeds we had counted.

In inquiry we started to learn about the five sense. This week we are focusing on the sense of seeing and will visit each grade 1 teacher to learn something different about the sense of seeing. In Ms. MacDonald's group we explored what people would do if they could not see. You can check out the video below that we watched about a boy who is learning to use echolocation to help him see with his ears.

This week we went to the wetlands and explored seasonal changes through our different senses. In math we created logic trains by changing the attributes of our shapes. We also painted our emoji pumpkin for Sobey's. If you take a trip to Sobey's you will be able to check out all of the different pumpkins the ROS students made this week.
